
Clare Sierawski is the Managing Director of the Energy Transition Accelerator (ETA) at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES). Supported by the Bezos Earth Fund and The Rockefeller Foundation, the ETA aims to mobilize innovative carbon finance solutions, including through high-quality carbon credits, to accelerate a just clean energy transition in developing countries. Sierawski leads the ETA Secretariat, overseeing strategy; fostering partnerships with governments, businesses, and organizations; and managing day-to-day operations.
With 20 years of experience in climate change and clean energy, Sierawski was most recently the Energy Counselor for Rural Development at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she directed $13 billion in funding to support clean energy transition in rural America. This work is expected to generate over 13 GW of renewable energy and significant emission reductions. She also served as Special Assistant to the President for Climate Change Finance at the White House. Prior to that, she spent nearly six years working on clean energy development across West Africa, based in Accra, Ghana. Sierawski also played a key role in securing the Paris and the U.S.-China climate agreements, serving as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Special Envoy for Climate Change at the U.S. Department of State under the Obama Administration. She also worked in the U.S. Senate as the Legislative Assistant for energy and environmental issues for then-Senator John Kerry. She began her federal service at the U.S. Department of Transportation working on emission reductions in the transportation sector.
Sierawski holds a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Environmental Studies, Chinese, and Political Science. A Michigan native, she now lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband and two daughters.
