On the vehicle standards proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency:

“Transportation is the largest source of climate pollution in the United States, and the automotive industry supports millions of good jobs. As a result, accelerating the manufacture and deployment of zero-emission vehicles is a priority for our climate and our nation’s economy. Well-designed, ambitious regulation has an important role to play in speeding that transition. Those regulations can complement, and build upon, the historic investments in last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, which will boost consumer demand for electric cars and trucks and expand charging infrastructure.  

“The transformation to a zero-emission fleet is a must if we’re to have a chance at meeting the nation’s climate goals of cutting emissions by 50 to 52 percent by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. Carmakers have proven these technologies, and demand for zero-emission vehicles is growing in the United States and around the globe. Now we need to ensure that our policies position America to lead the world in this transition. C2ES is working with companies to ensure that policy and infrastructure needs are keeping up with this demand, helping to accelerate emission reductions and create a vibrant market for zero-emission vehicles.”
